Reckless by Lauren Roberts
3.0
did i forget about this? one hundred percent yes. did i enjoy it? not really. am i going to write a review for it nonetheless? i've got no other option. am i going to try and finish the job asap? absolutely. so that's how we ended up here.
ˏˋ°•⁀➷ 3 ⭐
disappointed. i swear on everything i've got, i don't want to write this review. i'll just sum it up quickly.
⋇⊶⊰ plot⊱⊷⋇
nonexistent. nothing. nada. crap. zero.
the only semblance of plot we got was in kitt's chapters and the ending, which was so predictable that even i guessed it
⋇⊶⊰ romance⊱⊷⋇
existent. overpowering. excessive. hundred.
there was so much romance in this, i cannot even stress it! like pls this is a FANTASY, keep it in the realms of the fantastical world. the romance isn't supposed to go past the limits, like cmon?? sure, there were some cute scenes, but most of it was really disappointing (im looking at you rooftop scene). and everything just got annoying at some point
⋇⊶⊰ characters⊱⊷⋇
₊˚ପ⊹paedyn: she was okay. i'll admit, much better than in the first book since i found her as bland as a sack of flour in 'powerless'.
₊˚ପ⊹kai: you swoon over him? good for you. i couldn't care less.
₊˚ପ⊹kitt: he was just ... there?
₊˚ପ⊹others: barely any others made an appearance in this. we had lenny and a few from the resistance, but even that was temporary. also where was mak in this???
⋇⊶⊰ the ending⊱⊷⋇
boring. predictable. ugh.
i predicted the ending like 200 pages before it even happened, and that says a lot. i do wonder what will happen in the finale, though.
⋇⊶⊰ overall⊱⊷⋇
i didn't like this in the slightest, but i do have to praise lauren roberts for making this a fast paced read and for significantly improving her writing style. a thing that irked me is that there were multiple grammatical errors in the book. lauren, pls get a better editor bcs how can i just accept misspelling your main character?
⋇⊶⊰ quotes⊱⊷⋇
"Call us even. Call me crazy. I don’t care. Just…” His eyes are pleading, brimming with emotion. “Just call me yours."
"And then she smiles, bright and big like the night sky hanging above us. I fear she could rival the stars."
"Do I haunt your dreams, plague your thoughts, like you do mine?"
