📖: Sewanee Chester is a critically acclaimed audiobook narrator who got her start when famous romance author, June French, took a chance on her. Sewanee has since sworn off narrating romance novels, but when she’s asked to perform June’s posthumously published last novel, she really can’t say no. As she and her co-narrator (the infamous, yet secretive “Brock McNight”) work on the book together, they form a real connection (though technically anonymous, as they both work under pseudonyms) and Sewanee has to decide if she’ll continue to hide behind that anonymity or let herself lead the life she’s always wanted, but never imagined she could have.

I was skeptical that an audiobook narrator (even an amazing one like Julia Whelan) could also be a good author, and boy was I wrong! This was so fun (and yes, predictable, but that’s part of the fun). I was so enamored with Sewanee and “Brock” that I literally squealed…out loud… multiple times while listening (embarrassing, I know, but luckily I was in the car by myself). There are maybe (maaaaybe…) a few minor changes I would have made, but all in all, every aspect of this book was enjoyable– the plot, the pace, the writing– all of it!

Read this if you’re a fan of Emily Henry’s style (witty banter + romance with a little substance to it)– and definitely get it on audio!
