This Alien Shore by C.S. Friedman

I enjoyed this book. I think some reviewers fail to consider that this book was written in the 1990s -- yes, general worldviews (e.g., on gender) have evolved since then. In fact, I found some of the discussion of race in this book to be a bit heavy-handed, more like I would expect of much more recent works. I thoroughly enjoyed the cyberpunk feel of this story and the worldbuilding. I don't understand how the two main plot lines connected, or (I suppose) why they weren't supposed to connect. It's fine if they weren't meant to, but at some point plot lines usually intersect, and the lack of clear resolution here left me with some questions that I felt could have been better wrapped up here.
