Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

2.0

This book was a bit of a disappointment. It is primarily setting up the mystery for the rest of the series. I did not really feel much suspense. Because there isn't much of a mystery yet, the book relies on the histories of the girls to sustain interest. I just am not able to feel much of a connection to a Sara Shepard character. I just do not feel very sympathetic toward any of them, because she describes all of their emotions in such a matter-of-fact way. My main issue was that I really wanted to see it hit the fan, but all the fall-out and consequences are left for the following entries in the series. This book just doesn't have any major pay off. I just expect a little more scandal in my trashy teen books.
