I admit, going into this book I was cautiously excited cause I had heard such horrible things about this series, but on the other hand there was another, very loud group of people adoring and raving about the books still, almost 20 years later.
The movies, I'd call "affectionately cringe", as a lot of media directed at teenage girls can be viewed.
In the end, though, I ended up being so obsessed, so gripped by both the movies and the book (yet to read rest of the series) that even months later now, I'm still thinking about the story.
The book story itself isn't as flashy and loud as the movies, and I liked that. It had that quiet, soft feeling as first love does - every look, every touch carrying such significance.
What immediately gripped me was the writing style, how seemingly the words just flowed off the page, and before I knew it, I had read almost 500 pages and enjoyed every moment.
My favourite characters, as predicted, were Alice & Jasper - their dynamic is just unbeatable. Bella & Edward though were a close second. 🌹❤️

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb…" he murmured. I looked away, hiding my eyes as I thrilled to the word.
"What a stupid lamb," I sighed.
"What a sick, masochistic lion.”
