I’ve started my year off strong!! I buddy read Powerless with Aleira (@aleirareads) and boy did this book cause us to have some reactions! I didn’t know too much about this book going into it but I absolutely loved every element from Paedyn living in the slums, to being picked for The Trials and especially meeting Prince Kai. If I was to describe this book I’d say it’s the hunger games, meets the selection series & what I’ve read of the blurb, Red Queen.

The book follows Paedyn, a girl who is ordinary in a world full of elites. The elites possess powers which they believe, ordinary people weaken so the King decided to kill or ordinary people. Paedyn has mastered the ability to trick people into thinking she has a psychic powers. Every 5 years a selected number of elites are put into a trial of 3 challenges where they battle to win. Paedyn is selected after she saves the Princes’ life, but can she survive when she’s up against the most powerful?

Well I highly recommend reading the book to find out! This book covers some relatively heavy topics however I was in fits of laughter at moments. Whilst this book is not spicy in the slightest, the flirtatious banter between Paedyn and Kai was honestly out of this world! They had me blushing, giggling and even kicking my legs! If I could just read a whole book of them conversing, I 100% would!

Overall, for the first book of the year I am extremely happy! I absolutely loved it and dying for more! You can bet I’ve already got the next book preordered!
