The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah

3.0

This is my second time reading this book in 2011. The first reading was in 2001. I found it to be a great book with wonderful characters due to my life style, too. However, I am adjusting a bit to this second reading, since I work in the field of community corrections. I must say that I have matured a lot since 2001. I see things differently working in the correctional field and find this book to imitate the exact mindset we set out to change. So, I am having difficulty in enjoying this book as I did on the first reading. The author still touches on a real problem in the community of African Americans if I look deeper behind the superficial story-telling.
