A Promise of Peridot by Kate Golden

4.5

"You asked me once if I thought love was a weakness," he said, too low. "You, Arwen. You are my weakness."

- Fantasy romance
- Fae and witches
- Dragon-shifting shadow daddy
- Enemies to lovers (take two 😂)
- Lil love triangle moment
- He calls her bird
- Cliffhanger ending!
- Dual POV

1. WE GET KANE’S POV! The first sentence had me kicking my feet: "I was in love with her. And it was a f–king nightmare."
2. The push-and-pull, hate-to-love tension between these two was SO good! Kane is very protective, very jealous, and very in love, and I ate it up. I mean, the meaning behind his nickname for her alone: "Hope always has wings." SWOON.
3. This sequel turns up the spice 🔥. I wasn’t expecting it, but… it was hot. "You taste like my dreams" levels of hot!
4. If you’re dipping your toe into romantasy, I think this is a great beginner series, as it’s very easy to follow. This book’s plot especially wasn’t too complex but captivating nonetheless. The end game – finding the tools for her to kill his dad 😬.
5. I read and listened, and I’d also recommend the audio. It’s so helpful with fantasy book pronunciations 😂.
6. THAT ENDING 🤯. Didn’t see that coming! I’m so excited to see how this story ends.
7. I am begging Kate for a Griffin and Mari novella. BEGGING 🙏🏻.
