The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett
Did not finish book.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. My first Ken Follett. I won a spot to read it through the Pigeonhole.
I feel bad that I wasted a spot as I never finished it. I had a hard time engaging in the story. I tried, I really did.
I am left with disappointment. I have heard so many wonderful things about Follett and was desperate to read his work, but I didn’t connect with the writing at all. For me, it was missing something, tasteless, bland like someone gave me the wrong cup of tea.
Honestly, I don’t like to be critical of another writer’s work but I struggled to stay engaged and as a result I stopped reading it. I feel this is more about me and my preferences as a reader than it is about Follett’s book.
Such a shame, I really wanted it to be something amazing but it just fell too short of my expectations. Sadly.
