John Puller is visiting his ill father when he is interrupted by terrible news. His father, is now a suspect in the disappearance of his mother when he was a child. It is inconceivable to Puller his father – a decorated veteran – could possibly have been involved, but the evidence suggests otherwise. Puller starts to investigate, despite his close association with the case. But, all is not as it seems…
A freshly paroled Paul Rogers has a past he wishes to avenge. He and Puller are on a collision course – both on the trail of plot thirty years in the making.
In all honesty, this was a bit of a disappointment in my eyes, mainly due to the villain. The usual Puller activities are there, and Veronica Knox returns, but I found the villain to be a bit ridiculous. It was also a little too predictable. Perhaps Puller’s character had run his course, and this was the way to close it out. It is not terrible or anything, but I feel it is the weakest of the four books in the series.
