What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma by Stephanie Foo
5.0
If someone wants to read about c-PTSD (which I suffer from) this is the book I would recommend. Not only has Stephanie read most of the big names in the c-PTSD world (which she points out are incredibly dry) and relayed the most important messages to readers, she does so much more. She’s funny, entertaining, and full of empathy for those struggling. While this story is a how-to for living with complex PTSD, it’s also her story. A story that I was captivated by and quite enjoyed. This will, without a doubt, be one of my contenders for the book of the year. For now, it sits at a 5/5 on my storygraph.
If anyone is curious if it helps, all I can say is for me personally, it did. I felt seen in a way I'd never been seen, and I started to heal in ways I didn't think I could heal.
There is some tough stuff in this book though, so do check the trigger warnings.
