Violet lives in the poor side of a city that is full of corruption. When people are convicted of crimes instead of going to prison they are sentenced to the Sins - a series of worlds that are each rules by one of the Seven Sins. As atonement the criminals have to make it through all seven to return home. Except no one has ever made it back. Violet's brother was sent into the Sins two years ago and Violet has been depressed ever since. She knows he is still alive, but her hope of his ever returning is pretty much non-existent.

When the corrupt government starts rounding up people from her community to send to the Sins, solely because they are lower class, Violet snaps. She volunteers herself to go instead (think Hunger Games "I volunteer as tribute" but way more badass) and Violet is sent into the Sins herself. Now she hopes to survive long enough to find her brother and make it out of the Sins together.

This book had everything for me - romance, action, badass female lead, diverse characters, funny banter, sci-fi tech, a hint of magic and plot twists. I devoured it and I think read 10 hours straight.

Definitely check the trigger warnings before reading as there are quite a few to consider.
