Sanderson wrote such an incredibly unique and intricate magic system in this book. It was so complex but so worth the mental energy to understand. The character work was also incredible. Sanderson did not shy away from his characters flaws, instead making each character so layered and multifaceted. I am so blown away by his writing: I loved the world, the characters, the plot, and the magic system (so basically everything in this book).
The only reason this book was 4.5 stars instead of 5 is because it took me a little bit to get into the story. Due to the complexity of the magic system, the pacing at the beginning of the book felt quite slow but spending that time learning about the world was so worth it in the end.
Looking forward to a book that includes…
- Political Drama
- Found Family
- Rebellions
- A Tiny Bit of Romance
I 1000% recommend that you give this book a try.
I am so excited to dive into the next book!
Graphic: Racism, Slavery, Murder, and Colonisation
