The Huntress by Kate Quinn

2.0

Unpopular Opinion Time.
I am in the group of very few who did not like this book. I would sum up the rating to a 2.5, with credits to the author's research into something I did not know much about.
Night Witches. Russian women pilots kicking enemy asses. All the stars to them.
With a premise like that, I thought there was no possible way this book could be mucked. Well, I was wrong.
I did not care about stuffy Ian, over the top Nina, meh Tony or the Huntress for that matter. I started to skip whole paragraphs after I hit the 40% mark, because I was bored stiff, and my disinterest was becoming poisonous. The characters seemed so unrealistic, from their dialogues to their actions, I could relate to none of them. I like the use of zigzag timelines in stories, but it was simply going nowhere in this book. The editor could have shaved off 200 pages or so from the story - because it was filled with mundane details and uninteresting anecdotes. It almost took me 2 weeks to finish through the sludge of words, and I am left unsatisfied.
I would recommend this to no one.
