The Vanderbeekers Lost and Found by Karina Yan Glaser

4.0

Another great installment in the Vanderbeeker series.

I do like how the author does not shy away from death even though this is a achildren's book. It's handled in an age appropriate way with a lot of thought & consideration.
As a runner, I liked the backdrop of the NYC marathon throughout the story (although I wouldn't have minded more discussion of Orlando's & Mr B's training).
The only part I didn't love was the Benny/ Isa piece. She was actually incredibly rude and inconsiderate to Jason to abandon him right before the dance and then to roll in with Benny. This felt out of character and I'm not entirely sure why it was in here.
I *loved* the disucssion regarding Hyacinth and making friends especially because she's shy & introverted. I hope this teachable moment resonates with younger readers.
All in all, my daughters and I loved it!
