A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella

4.0

Another 4.5⭐️! This was such a big, warmhearted and wonderful story. I can't believe it's taken me this long to read it.

A Quiet Life focuses on three Pennsylvania residents, who all are experiencing loss within their lives. Each is alone and grieving in different ways - Chuck for his beloved wife, Kirsten for the father she adored, and Ella for her missing daughter. Gradually, their lives begin to cross paths as they gain strength and comfort from the support of others.

Although this is story about how grief and the many ways we cope - both publicly and privately - it is also about hope and compassion and our need for human contact and interactions. I adored each of these characters and loved watching them learn to navigate new waters.

It is definitely a slow, introspective story that would be perfect for a chilly autumn or winter day. But having read this on the cusp of summer, it still worked beautifully. I can't recommend this enough if you're looking for something to renew your faith in the power of kindness and human connection.
