Compelling story, I especially enjoyed the descriptions of her time spent outside of the US. The chapter written about her time in Afghanistan was especially powerful for me. I could definitely tell she’s used to writing journalism pieces, some of the writing style didn’t emotionally compel me as much as I would have expected given the content it covers. But tells a very important story about children in immigrant families, what it feels like to straddle multiple worlds, dysfunctional family and grappling with your queer identity with a mother who doesn’t accept that.
