This book is a ride I was not expecting after the first book. I was satisfied with first, but not blown away. Interested enough to move to part two. This is exactly what you are expecting from a dark mafia romance with an S&M undertone. The characters have depth with mental illness(es) - some verbalized and others are obvious from the behaviors. They are both morally gray (closer to black) with different responses to that reality. I spent the entirety of this book frustrated with the decisions of these characters, hoping they would separate and rooting for them to succeed, often simultaneously.
The actual mystery of a plot is good. I was not expecting all of the excitement out of this series. It’s a dark mafia romantic thriller.
Please consider checking trigger warnings not optional. I will list them at the end. Spicy level - 3 of 5. There are, um, interesting kinky scenes.

TW: Duious Consent, Non-consent, Violence, Verbal/emotional abuse, physical abuse, murder, trauma, pregnancy, mental illness, eating disorder, suicide.
