This was my first Maggie Alderson book and I loved the slow burn of the story. I also loved the how we got to know these characters so well.
Polly is married to David and they have two children who are adults in their own rights. David, however, has abandoned the family. For a vast majority of the book, he’s not present at all. When I found out why, it was very jarring.
Of course there was also the romance between two of the characters at the end of the book, which was lovely.
