Misadventures in a Thumbnail Universe by Vincent W. Sakowski

4.0

For the reader never having picked up a bizzaro book, this is a great one to start with. The stories of this 'Thumbnail Universe' range from downright sickening to oddly mainstream, but all wonderful. The high point, for me, is the incredibly short 'Peel and Eat Buffet'. It breaks the standard convention and is told in present tense, yet it makes it only more memorable.

A book of thoughts, almost, more than stories. The plot arcs are seldom important, when they do appear, and are always dwarfed by the inanity--the beautiful inanity. At the end, you'll know whether or not you enjoyed the book, but what you may not know is why, or really much else about it.

Bizzaro, as a whole, is more art than story, and this book is no exception. For fans of the genre, a good book to put on your shelf. For non-fans--don't you think it's time to broaden your horizons?
