The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs by Irvine Welsh
3.0
- Major theme: daddy issues.
- Props for diving into a more experimental/sci-fi role (as compared to Trainspotting, Porno, Filth, etc.) while maintaining the familiar tonality/form of characterization. It did so very hamfisted, however.
- Great nuance in the characters, most of them have a respectable amount of depth. Hard to say if it's always the narrators or the author proper who leaves women as kind of backpieces/to emphasize the characters of the 'protagonist' at this point.
- As usual, well-described scenes of ick.
