The Monkey Wars by Deborah Blum

challenging emotional informative slow-paced
Thirty years after publication, parts of this are outdated, but the book as a whole remains painfully relevant to the current primate research world, particularly in the US. I picked this up after a bought of frustration at how little time my lab husbandry class spent on medical ethics, and valued it for its refusal to pretend there are easy answers to any of this. It was a slow and difficult read, but one I'm incredibly grateful to Blum for.
