A Song for the Dying by Stuart MacBride

2.0

I found this a bit of a slog for some reason. It didn't grab me until two thirds of the way through and then it picked up a bit. The writing style got in the way of the story. Songs on the radio would be one line, events or actions on another line, back to the song or any other background noise and back to the present. I started skipping every other passage when this style was used and it made for a better read. The problem was there was just to much of it to enjoy. There was no clear path with the story. It took me several tries to just get going with the book in the first place and then it was like running through mud.

I've enjoyed the Logan McRae series of books but this is different and it's hard to really put a finger on why.
