The Twelve Chairs by Evgeny Petrov, Ilya Ilf
3.0
The Twelve Chairs is essentially a novel that uses the story of a treasure hunt as a tool to showcase and satyrize the entire Russian society of the 1920's. It does have its hilarious moments, but I found the constant digressions from the story to be a tad too frustrating and I often lost (and regained after a while) interest in the novel. I also found the ending to be a bit anticlimactic and completely out of character for Ippolit Matveyevich.
