The Phantom of the Opera is one of my favourite movies and it took me forever to get around to reading the book. Like a lot of people, I personally kinda maybe love the Phantom in the movie (the 2004 one). In the book... not so much. I actually loved Raoul though!

For a classic, this was a really easy read and just amazing. Leroux paints such a vivid picture of the opera and how it could be confusing to get around (which makes you realise how Erik was able to get around without really being seen).

I really liked learning about Erik's background and his involvement with the Persian. We see how much of a genius he really is - and how evil and broken.
