Got this book as an ARC. Big thank you to St Martin’s Press.

This story was told largely chronological through her childhood with both her childhood understanding as well as her adult understanding at times. There were instances where I wish we’d delved deeper into bits and pieces of interest instead of glossing over, and we went deep into details I thought could have been glossed over.
Also, after she gets out, the story moves very very fast until it goes slowly through her military career which to me could have a follow-up book as it’s an important topic of its own. While I saw small strands of bringing it back to her former cult life - it wasn’t enough for me.
