Lady Justice: Women, the Law, and the Battle to Save America by Dahlia Lithwick
4.0
This was simultaneously incredibly inspiring and depressing as hell. It was a little bit of a chore to get through because the somber topics. Reading the epilogue/conclusion of movement of the people being inspired to vote and get involved after just watching 6 million Democrats fail to show up to the 2024 polls was…something. Learned a lot about different topics I didn’t know much about past flashy news.
“Voters suffer “the great forgetting” and putting the trump craziness firmly in the past. “ she prematurely nailed this on the head unfortunately. It feels like so many people of all demographics forgot the stakes and voted elsewhere, and then were surprised when they’re suddenly nervous about crossing state lines again. Somehow we all forgot.
Separately. I’m really curious to hear more discourse about the power of influencing internet trends that I think will be sparked by the Justin Baldoni x Blake Lively case. It seems absolutely crazy that there was zero talk about how that influenced the 2024 election and I think that’s celebrity drama will spark that talk. There’s so little regulations on it but it’s so incredibly powerful.
Thanks to everyone who tried to read this with me. It was kind of a toughie and took me a long time to get through, but I also came out of it inspired enough to try and pursue a masters.
