twas okay. i skimmed a lot of it cus i didn’t care for the characters.
i feel like a lot of things were just copy (in the beginning mainly) & pasted from when harry met sally; the way they met (him making out with a girl), bailey being very specific & high maintenance, her calling him the most cynical person she’d ever met, etc. and him literally REFERNCING when harry met sally and quoting harry’s speech about men & women not being friends— like if you’ve watched the movie how can you not see that you’re playing out the roles?? i just think ‘alex, approximately’ (a take on youve got mail) did a really good job of taking the main plot & elements of the movie and incorporating them, while still making it its own, where it doesn’t feel too similar. i didn’t even make the connection between the book & movie until i finished ‘alex, approximately’.
and overall, i just didn’t care for the characters or their relationship. and the book felt very childish, like yeah obviously it’s a ya romance, but that doesn’t mean it has to feel SO young and the characters have to act SO immature.
wouldn’t recommend.
