This was such a cute graphic novel! I'm definitely planning on adding a copy to my classroom library. As someone who listened to quite a bit of Tegan & Sara back in college, I loved reading this semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story about friendship, sisterhood, identity, and music. The only aspect that didn't quite work for me was the fact that this story was set in present day, rather than in the 90s when Tegan & Sara actually were in middle school. While I can understand and appreciate this choice in order to be more relatable to a current middle grade audience, it felt like a 90s story, just with the addition of phones and social media. (For example, both girls get chicken pox, which, while possible, felt a little out of place.) I'm still looking forward to reading the next installment in the duology: Crush.
