"I love the way when we stand together on the beach our shadows blend into one person. I love the way you can write on my skin with your fingers and I can understand it better than I could understand someone else shouting in my ear. I didn't want to love you like this. It's the worst idea in the world that I love you like this. But I can't stop. Believe me, I've tried."
I. LOVE. MARKKKKKK.
AND THAT ENDING.
Now that I got that out of the way, I strongly urge you to read this for the parabatai forbidden romance, serial murders, delicious angst for every couple there is in this book, and some even more delicious betrayals. If Emma is the raging fire, then Julian is the chilling frost. Both are deadly in their own ways.
Emma and Julian are cute with their incomparable bond and infinite understanding and forbidden pining, but since I see parts of myself in Julian, I can't view him as a potential love interest. The eldest sibling syndrome in me recognises his.
The train-wreck that is Mark and Kieran and Cristina on the other hand... delightful. I already love Mark for being a subtly comedic disaster of a person, so wherever he goes, I will go. Ethereal with *just* the right amount of strange wilderness is how I'd describe him. With this love triangle, the highs are high, the lows are low, and the angst twice as heart-wrenching.
❗CLOCKWORK PRINCESS SPOILER❗
I love Tessa too. She's just as caring and gentle as Jem, with resolute hardness lying within that had once mirrored Will's. I'm ready to dive into their happily ever after in the next books.
