Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between by Lauren Graham

Boy, did this book stress me out. Holy smokes. Is Lauren like,,, battery-charged? Where on EARTH does she get her endless energy and enthusiasm and resilience? (*incomprehensible noises in background*) I've been informed that this is just how people without mental illness work. Seems fake, but okay.

PT: memoirs, acting/voices of actors, GILMORE GIRLS (kicking off the Rory Gilmore Challenge)

WIL
1) CAROLE FRICKIN KING? CAROLE KING IS THAT ONE LADY IN GILMORE GIRLS???I thought that whole joke about "I Feel the Earth Move" in A Year In The Life was just like... poking fun at popular songs at a whole I DIDNT REALIZE THAT WAS ACTUALLY CAROLE KING

2) Acting is terrifying! Very on theme with the books I'm reading atm- see also Carrie Fisher's book. I have a lot of respect for actors putting themselves out there constantly and facing so many rejections...that's brutal. Acting's intense. My heart goes out to those artists trying to prove to the world that they're worthwhile.

3) Motivating? sort of? Still a bit unsure of whether or not I can call this thing motivating. Like, yea, her energy is kinda sorta contagious? And seeing all that she's done does make me want to go out into the world and Do Things Like Her. BUT at the same time, GOD is this overwhelming. I feel like I've been bulldozed a bit.

4) Her life's arc is POETIC. From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls? From a show that was, it seemed, destined to do poorly to a highly anticipated and successful Netflix reboot? I'm in tears that's the happy ending, full circle sorta content I live for.

WIDL
1) The fertilizer that makes the Insecurity Flowers *blossom.* In being so competent and so resilient, Lauren makes me just feel *awful.* She speaks directly to my deeply rooted fears of inadequacy! Ha ha ha! This is not a good time!

2) Separating Lorelai from Lauren. (The Approachability Problem.) Lorelai is fallible. She's imperfect and real and I feel like I could go talk to her. Lauren...not so much. She's so intimidating now, and I can't really look at Lorelai in the same way. Kinda wish I hadn't read this tbh bc now the whole show is gonna be tainted with the pain of this book.

NEUTRAL GROUND
1) she's just a pretty intense person. I didn't realize. Goodness gracious.
