I actually enjoyed this more than the first book. I’m excited to continue the series now!  They did a much better job fleshing out the various crafted races and avoided placing them in stereotypical roles for the world.

That said…you must be ok with really unlikable characters. Most of the characters are seriously  flawed, but the author does a good job explaining their motivations.  However, the only characters I actually found myself liking were Cithirin and Marcus. But even then they did stuff that really highlighted their flaws.

Clara experienced the most character growth and interested where her story is going.
