The Diary of a Young Girl by Mirjam Pressler, Anne Frank, Otto H. Frank

4.0

I finally read Anne Frank's diary. I had obviously heard of it, but I never had a copy until one of the kids needed to read it for school. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was at times funnier and hopeful than I would have anticipated. What really got to me was the afterward, of when they describe The Diary of Anne Frank during the play's opening in November of 1957, attended by Queen Juliana, after the curtain went down that the audience sat in silence for several minutes afterward and there was no applause. Anne has achieved life after death, and I believe this book should be required reading.
