This book was meant to be a tagged on finale to the Uglies series, and it showed.

Set three years after the Diego War from "Specials", this book has a whole new vocabulary for the reader to get used to. Although I loved the changes made to the new world (reputation economy, merits, fame, and personal cams), I can't help but miss the old team the previous books set up for me to love. Tally Youngblood, Shay, Fausto, and David do make an appearance, albeit short lived and uneventful. There are a few surprises (which I won't spoil for you here) that keeps the reader going, and I'm not particularly mad at the way the series has finally come to an end, but this book was unnecessary and a bit anticlimactic. This book was like double stuffed Oreos; just fine, but you liked the original better.
