Three Little Lies by Laura Marshall

3.0

Thanks to @grandcentralpub for sending me a copy of this book! I’ve been trying to read more thrillers and mysteries, and this book was just enough intrigue to keep me hooked!
Ellen has a strong relationship with her best friend, Sasha. They live together and tell each other everything; that is, until Sasha goes missing one day and Ellen starts to realize maybe Sasha didn’t tell her everything after all. The disappearance also brings up memories from the past that include a court case about sexual assault. Ellen has to wade through all the lies and mystery to find out if her best friend is ok!
So this book was gripping and I found myself wanting to keep reading to find out what happens next! Ellen was a likeable character, and the other characters are ok, while not great. A couple things kinda bugged me about this book though. One was that the book goes back and forth between a few different years, and the synopsis says that the current day takes place in 2018, but in the book it’s actually 2017. I just found that odd. I also was a bit uncomfortable with the idea around lies being told in a sexual assault case. I feel like enough people out there don’t believe women when it comes to sexual assault, and a book like this does not help the case. This book does not really support women when it comes to believing them in regards to sexual assault. Anyway, that’s my piece on it! The book was quite interesting and if you’re looking for a gripping mystery, then you should definitely check this out!
