This is so good. I picked up A Scots Quair recently in Edinburgh, and on return home, started the first book of this series in an effort to return to Scotland by reading. I was richly rewarded. Appreciating that Sunset Song ranks high in the canon of Scottish literature (itself a rewarding pursuit), I've received a rich education from this book and gained insight into class, region, gender, socioeconomic and other tensions while also being deeply moved by the story.
