2/5 ⭐️ Heavier than expected and then kinda dragging out and boring.
2/5 🌶️ There was some spice.. but I can’t quite remember it so it must not have impressed me.

This is not what I was expecting when I read the blurb. I anticipated what sounded like a darker bully enemies to lovers romance. But it’s more friends to forced enemies to lovers, not that it’s a bad thing. It was also a much heavier book than anticipated with Kodiak’s and Lavenders anxieties. That part wasn’t mentioned at all in the blurb, and was much more prominent focus throughout the entire book. I was rather annoyed that it took so long to find out what happened between them. I started become impatient very quickly. And everything was all built up into this big thing, and then the reveal was a bit anticlimactic.

Several times it felt like one of the MCs does something grossly out of character, like the thong bathing suit and riding a dildo in front of Kodiak. Kodiak seemed both confident and cool, calm and collected, but then also described as anxious as fuck and having meltdowns and freak outs.

The back and forth between Kodiak being her friend to hating her and being an asshole to her to loving her again just felt.. overdone? Idk, it’s seemed quite easy for him to be such a dick to her. Idk how to explain, but something about it didn’t really work for me.

Then after they get together, there are so many time jumps, making the last part of the book kinda boring. Everything is told to us, not shown. “I got offered an internship. We’re gonna move to New York. He graduated then we moved.” Felt like a rushed way to wrap things up.
