Moving Targets and Other Tales of Valdemar by

4.0

"Moving Targets" is the fourth Valdemar anthology, I believe. I quite like the way Lackey invites other authors to play in her backyard, so to speak. It's like authorized fan fiction, really.

I liked all the stories, but my favourite is probably the final story, "Widdershins" by Judith Tarr. That could be because it has to do with the bond between horses and riders, something which Tarr well understands, as she raises and trains Lippizaners. The title story is a bit odd at first, but when I realized that Mercedes Lackey was actually spoofing "Scooby-Do," I really got into it.
