This was a really rewarding book to have read.  It's a bit of a project for sure.  But spending time with Villette is really fun.  You root for her, and hope she can overcome her situation and her own personality to find happiness.  She's also pretty sarcastic and funny.  The book took me by surprise a couple of times.  It could be considered melodramatic but since its a classic book it doesn't feel that way.
