The Lady's Guide to Scandal by Emmanuelle de Maupassant

5.0

Scandal seems to follow Cornelia wherever she goes, and she does not like that even a bit. She wants to live a simple life, have a simple husband, and stay far away from society and its gossip as possible. Ethan is a famous explorer that returns to bring some artifacts to the museum and to spend the holidays with his sister who wants to see him married off. Cornelia and Ethan played together as kids and then life took them separate routes. Now they are reunited at a holiday party and Ethan proposes to pretend an engagement and then fake break up afterward but fate has a different ending in mind.

This is a book in a series, but the first one I have read from this author. I really enjoyed it.
