I know this is a banned book in some places but it should actually be required reading… but man this was so dark.

showcases the effects of racism and beauty standards on a micro level and how damaging whiteness as a beauty standard is. how people experience the world is actually influenced by how they are perceived. 

If those eyes of hers were different, that is to say, beautiful, she herself would be different.
