I Know You by Annabel Kantaria

4.0

I Know You by Annabel Kantaria is the best type of thriller: creepy, addictive and full of unexpected and shocking twists. Taylor and her husband Jake have moved from the US to England. Jake had cheated on Taylor and their move to England was a fresh start for their marriage. Taylor is pregnant; while very excited about her pregnancy, she feels alone and desperate for friends as Jake often travels for work. Taylor quickly joins both a walking group and a book club and makes friends with a diverse group, including Anna, Caroline, Sarah and Simon. She bonds most with Anna, who is also pregnant and has a husband who travels most of the time for work. They quickly bond over their pregnancies and Taylor helps Anna with decorating her home, documenting their every move on social media. It is clear that each of the five friends have secrets, often resulting in some kind of discourse between them. As secrets are slowly revealed, it is clear that something malicious is afoot and disaster is inevitable.

The book is told from two POVs. The first is Taylor and the second is of a disturbed evil stalker. The stalker is not identified until late in the book but it is clear that he/she is intent on destroying one of the five's lives. By using social media, the stalker is able to watch their prey's every move.

I couldn't stop reading this and at the same time, I did not want it to end! My heart was racing the whole time and I kept trying to guess who the stalker was. Even after the target of the stalker was revealed, I still couldn't figure out who the stalker was from the remaining four characters. And even when the stalker was revealed, my guess to the stalker's motivation was totally wrong. By the time I reached the end, I was mentally exhausted but in the best way! As I reflected on the end, I realized that Annabel Kantaria had sprinkled clues to the identity of the stalker and his/her motivations throughout the book but those clues were so clever and subtle that I hadn't been able to piece them together! I thought the stalker's "weapon" of social media was brilliant. As someone who uses Instagram regularly, it totally freaked me out to think of how someone can ruin another person's life by simply following their every post.

I really enjoyed this book! Annabel Kantaria created a thrilling, creepy plot with characters that were unique, secretive, and all capable of being the stalker. The twists were shocking, the reveals were unexpected and the ending was crazy. I definitely need to check out Kantaria's other books because I loved this one!

Thank you to Netgalley, Crooked Lane Books and Annabel Kantaria for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
