Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre by Max Brooks

5.0

Great novel about a community that is made up of a small subdivision at the base of mt Rainier. The house and community are all green but live in a desolate area. Mt Rainier erupts and they are cut off from civilization. Then a strange animal starts coming around. At first they try to deny it but soon they can't deny that there are bigfoot in the area. The apes attack several times by throwing rocks. Then one man tries to go for help and they capture him. They torture him. The main character and her husband dan venture into the nest of the beasts and only escape when an older woman from the community scares the bigfoot with fire. The bigfoot attack one night and the older woman is killed. But they manage to kill one bigfoot and injure the alpha. They come again and this time everyone but the main character and a young girl are killed. They live for a week more in that community and then the journal ends. You are left wondering if they went to kill all the bigfoot or died.
