Significance by Shelly Crane
4.0
4.5 stars!
I didn't expect to like Significance. I know that everyone was going on and on about how amazing this book was but I didn't think I would like it. Thankfully I finally gave it a chance and ended up loving this book.
“I wanted someone to want me in all ways and someone who I wanted the same in return, And I'd found him.”
Maggie is just trying to get on with her life after graduation. Her mother left, her dad's miserable and her boyfriend dumped her in the beginning of their senior year. On the day of her graduation her life takes a turn for the better, or at least that's what it seems like. I really liked how strong Maggie was. She
“It's rooted in my blood to consume you and be consumed by you. To protect you. To please you, in every way. To make you shiver when I touch you. To cause your heart to beat faster.”
Caleb is wonderful. He's reminds me of the best friend in those books that the protagonist usually never picks. He's sweet, but they always choose the dark, brooding guy. Well I was happy to see a sweet good guy get the girl for once. And even though he's really sweet and always putting Maggie's needs before his own, Caleb still had his moments of hormonal teenager. I can't find one wrong thing about Caleb and while that may sound perfect, it does bother me a little. I like my characters to have flaws, I'm not talking big flaws but at least something so I feel like I can relate with the character. I loved Caleb but I just wish there was something that could make him a little more...human in my eyes. It's not a major thing and I hardly thought of it but it's just something I felt like I needed to express in this review.
“Because you are my significant, my soul mate. And I'm yours.”
I'll be the first to admit I didn't really think the soul mate thing would work out in the book. But surprisingly this whole soul-mate/Aces thing is really well detailed and thought out.
