East of West Volume 3: There Is No Us by Jonathan Hickman

4.0

How good would this series b without the art of [a:Nick Dragotta|205810|Nick Dragotta|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/m_50x66-82093808bca726cb3249a493fbd3bd0f.png]? Probably just three stars. The coloring of the characters, and the washed out pallete to infer flashbacks is perfect. I would reread Peter Milligan's X-Men run if Dragotta had drawn it.

The factioning of the North American continent in this volume, as war looms, is really intriguing, and I'm really enjoying how Hickman is giving us time with a variety of characters and none of them have justifiable motivations, and yet none of them seem reprehensibly evil.

If you like complex character studies set up in a cool western/sci-fi genre mashup, this might be your spitoon of spice.
