Kushiel's Mercy by Jacqueline Carey

5.0

Another worthwhile entry in the series. I did really like the worldbuilding in this series, Dart and on. I'm intrigued to reread Dart, after waiting a bit for this headspace to settle.

I get why people were critical of the Imriel books after falling in love with Phedre (assuming that it's as anodyne as all that). For my side of things, Imriel was the fulfillment of everything Phedre believed, but couldn't prove from her own existence/ experience.

I'm going to take a beat before picking up the last trilogy - and I'll be okay if I don't. This series ended so well! Carey really did put work into getting the threads lined up for a solid ending.
