Second Sister by Chan Ho-Kei

5.0

second sister is about an older sister, Nga-Yee who lost her younger sister to suicide. allegedly experienced bullying online, the beginning of all this was the sexual assault case that the younger sister experienced on the MTR. the novel then goes with the older sister trying to find out who "killed" her sister, assisted by an eccentric and genius detective named N. but without me knowing it, the story spreads and is more complicated than just a sister's revenge. you should read the novel, then you will understand what I mean.

nowadays, people can just write fake news on their blogspot page or create a thread on their twitter, then thousands of people around the world can just believe it. this is how online bullying scenarios usually work. this is still very relevant to our current situation, wherever we are. this is very, very dangerous, especially if the case of bullying is experienced by teenagers who are still fragile. au siu-man, the younger sister, was subjected to days of sexual harassment and online bullying and this led to her own death. however, once again, you have to read the novel to know why all of these things could happen.

I've rambled too much about the storyline, and I think that's enough. it's officially on my "best reads of 2023" list. you have to read this novel, you have to know how genius N is in solving the cases. please, add second sister by chan ho-kei to your TBR list right now!
