"Thinking about history makes me wonder how I’ll fit into it one day, I guess. And you too. I kinda wish people still wrote like that. History, huh? Bet we could make some."
Perhaps I really have been living under a rock these past few years, because I only found out about this book and its popularity after the film adaptation came out. And since people couldn't stop talking positively about this novel, it piqued my interest.
I'm not sure why I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to? The idea is fun and I do think that it was pretty well-executed, but the problem is that I wasn't entertained. I wasn't hooked. The story never really managed to pull me in, no matter how many pages I turned. I unconsciously kept putting off reading the next chapters, so I feel like it took me ages to finish this book. But I really wanted to see it through.
Also, I painfully felt like I was missing a lot of the jokes due to my lack of knowledge of the US (political) history. Which is definitely on me. But as a reader, it put me on the sidelines.
