I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

4.0

Didn’t know Jennette McCurdy from a bar of soap having not really been a Nick kid growing up. I stumbled across her through an interview on armchair expert and was intrigued by that interview and the frame up of this book.

Ultimately it’s a raw, candid and mostly horrible account of a childhood spent trying to please someone who didn’t deserve to be pleased and the utter devastation that causes at the time and into adulthood.

It was written/narrated beautifully and I bloody hope that she makes more from this book than the hush money she was offered.
