Prosper's Demon by K.J. Parker

5.0

Oh the joys of dark, dark humour (with demons as an added bonus).

I have a genuine soft spot for novellas - direct writing that can still deeply explore a variety of concepts and ideas. K.J. Parker is able to condense an amazing amount of deep, rich content into this small tale. When reading, you're able to fully immerse yourself into the life of an exorcist. Though brief, Parker paints a well rounded picture of the main character - I'm VERY reluctant to use protagonist (from reasons which are clear in the novella).

Supernatural, paranormal, celestial - whatever. This tale of demonic possession and horrific exorcisms is GOLDEN. The second contender of the year for my #1 top read of 2020.
